Nice shot. I almost feel like I am in the dark ages looking at this.
Were was this taken?
Thank you for your comment.
It is a panoramic view of Segovia in Spain, with the Alcazar as the most representative monument.

Yes, this was the APO Lanthar 50 Z (Z Mount). The Z Mount Version has a MFD of 0.45m, that is much better than the M mount version (0.7m). Try it, it‘s incredible… ;-)
I have the m version. Will be getting the z version next.
Love that lens. It is spectacular.

Love the 1.0 but I struggle to focus with the M. Much easier when used on the ZF.
I need a fountain like that on my patio.
Yes, a fountain like that would be cool… This one belongs to a castle nearby. And yes, focusing this amazing lens on the ZF is MUCH simpler.

Love this shot. Excellent capture. If I would change anything it would be to get rid of the big white border. IMHO, it takes away a lot from an otherwise awesome picture.

Tired of staying home so I decided to take the 21mm and SL2-S to the gorge. Not much here but it really shows how sharp this lens is edge to edge. Shot at f4 and ISO 200.

This is in Derbyshire - Castleton which is in the peak district of the UK. One of my favorite parts to visit when I go.

Thanks gip. Just got the new v3 15mm Super Wide Heliar and working to get the feel for it. This is slightly cropped, but it works well Full Frame on the Sony A7 with the thin filter stack modification. And, you're right, the light was lovely which is what drew me to this.

I read some info on the M8 and discovered it has no AA filter, nor IR filter. The Kodak sensor is rather unique also, and designed specifically for that camera. Kodak no longer makes sensors, so this combination won't be repeated. I like the colors the M8 produces.

The timing was provided by our Lord . . with the shutter lag of the A7r (which regularly drives me crazy) I would guess that the bee was still half a meter away from the flower when I pushed the release button . . .
After lunch we went out and wandered around Olivera Street -- but I had my Ikon out and was shooting film.
Back into the station for this shot up a platform tunnel, then a quick ride to Central Market. Tomorrow...

This is the Metro station at Hollywood & Highland. Looks like something out of "Alien". Will continue the post tomorrow, as we descend into the bowels of LA and take the train.

Believe it or not - this was around 12:30 on a Friday afternoon.
Example of swerve filter on a picture that was mirrored and part of it mirrored top to bottom. Three layers used and parts of each layer erased to make the composite. Flaming Pear Filter applied in CS. sRGB Color embedded into the file.
This picture goes well with a song I created. Open the link in another browser window, so you can still see the picture.

I love the tension in this photo. Excellent use of the ultra wide. I notice Sony 7R is gaining ground and if I judge from your pictures and Terry's there is an obvious quality merit.

I did! Actually, the thing is; when you hold your camera at arms length, and lock her eyes by establishing eyecontact, you avoid the look in the camera . . . :-)
Thank you all very much!
Unfortunatly i don't have Leica gear anymore...anyway Dimitri you are right, this was shot during a camino to "Madonna del Piastraio" sanctuary in Stazzema, LU, Italy.
I like the composition with the blurred figure in the foreground and the two lonely men eating in the background. A simple direct approach to "a day in the life..." photo.

thanks very much for your comments!
I use the 18mm finder and have to guess the rest - and try again, if it is not ok. :))
For the sky I use the red filter emulation in Nik Silver Efex and some other tools and UPoints

A public answer to Herman: the swimmer in the background is, indeed, the surfer who belonged to the board. Broken boards (and surfers) happen frequently on the North Shore of Oahu.

I know this is an old post - but what a wonderful shot. This is one of my favorite lenses and I have many examples at the top of this thread -- but none do justice to it. This shot does. Spectacular.

They were all listening/watching a hawker in front of the Ripley's Believe It Or Not attraction on Hollywood Blvd. And then, probably, to McDonalds for a happy meal.

Wow, this is fantastic. composition and processing. Excellent job. If I were to do anything different, I would crop it a little tighter and remove from the top to bring focus to the eye much quicker. But, that's just me :) Excellent shot!
Thank you Herman, treats himself about a map of the city of Lisbon, a street directory to facilitate to the tourism a public plane of the streets.

No, it's the correct way up. The lights are on the floor, not ceiling. This is the entrance to the National Museum of Australia, in our nation's capital, Canberra. If you look at the other photo titled "Tunnel 2", you'll see it from the other direction. It is a phenomenally interesting building.
Really, and onlooker, in this case is upside-down. But the dynamic range of the sensor allows the reproduction of tones of the clarity the darkness.
Onlooker.
Best regards,
Well if you are going to come here in Viareggio just tell me, i know lots of good places, both beaches and nice and traditional seafood restaurants ; )
(Jerseyville, IL) A member of the Staunton Bulldog track team starts to jump a hurdle at a spring 2011 co-ed track meet at the Snyder sports complex. I was so close to the track I could have reached out and touched her as she jumped.
(Jerseyville, IL) This girl from the Staunton IL High School track team just seemed as if she could not make up her mind about going over the hurdle. It was a sunny, but cool day as she followed all of the other runners.
The crowd is watching the finish line.
The Snyder Sports Complex in Jerseyville is where the Jersey High School team hosted the co-ed track meet.
(Jerseyville, IL) While sitting in Elmer Heafner's barber shop, I watched as three young boys had their hair cut. Their mother makes a monthly trip to the shop with all three of them.
I ran out to my car as Elmer was almost finished on the last boy to get a camera. I estimated the focus, stood up, shot 3 frames and got this image. The boy looked my way as Elmer finished.
A few days later I gave Elmer a print of this image and his response was, "I look old."

One of the things that I could not figure out initially was the light and dark streaks on the ceiling. After standing in the same location that I shot this image from, I discovered it was because of the front windows in his shop and the light reflecting from cars as they drive by.
(Jacksonville, IL) This is an image from the 2011 West Central Illinois All Star football game that was held at Illinois College. The north and south teams are comprised of recently graduated high school seniors that are invited to participate.
For many of the players this is the last time they will play football as part of a team. As you can see the uniforms and equipment is a bit different from player to player with only the jersey being the same.
These players are watching the last few minutes of the game from the bench.
The "North" team did not win.
Another frame from the Virginia IL BBQ of Marty Stuart performing. The crowd shot with the buildings in the background were waiting for this show.
I decided to keep this as a color image rather than convert it to B&W. The lighting was bad and the color temperature of the lights was all different.
These musicians perform in all different kinds of venues and I decided to keep it color to give a little bit more of the flavor of the conditions they perform in as they go from one performance to another.
From left to right: Harry Stinson, Kenny Vaughan, Paul Martin and Marty Stuart
(Virginia, IL) A crowd waits at night at the courthouse square in Virginia Illinois at the 2011 annual BBQ to see country music entertainer Marty Stuart and his Superlatives. A storm had just passed that almost destroyed the stage and tents.
I was surprised this image was usable considering the lighting was so bad, the camera was hand held and the shutter speed was so long. Even looking at the display after the shot I wasn't sure.
These people are waiting for country music performer Marty Stuart to begin a performance in Virginia IL at the annual BBQ that raises funds to keep up the town square. Most of the buildings you see in the background are not occupied and the money raised goes to keeping them repaired.
I had been shooting baseball most of the day and stopped to try the BBQ. I decided to stay and shoot a few frames. Immediately before this frame was shot and before the show was to start, an intense thunderstorm passed over that almost destroyed the tents. The storm passed within minutes, the air temperature dropped and everyone returned for the show.
The BBQ tasted great too.

Saludos,
I made some edits with the comments provided. I didn't go too overboard with the brightening and darkening as I wanted to keep it looking natural. The ear is not so hot now and the eye is a bit brighter. Thanks again for the feedback

@jalle,
thanks,
For PP I use almost always Lightroom 3.
The B&W image stays internally in color and you can tune for example the blue from the sky down to get a black sky or in this picture tune down the skin colors to make the skin lighter
hope that helps :)
I'm very happy with this lens. I was a little worried about talk of softness at wide apertures. It may not be as crisp, but it's still very nice. And great for portraits.
I've gone through a lot of telephotos. But this one is my keeper.
The locks aren't 'used' as such - what happens is that lovers buy the lock, write their names on it, attach it to the railings, and throw the key into the river.
I guess it's a way of saying 'together for ever'...
